Key Takeaways:

  • Believe - Your Mindset
  • Conceive - Dream Big
  • Break it Down - Create small digestible steps
  • Achieve - Lean on your community

We all have dreams and aspirations, but how do we take that spark of an idea and turn it into a reality? Our community manager Bianca went from dreaming about working on a business she loves while exploring the world to actually DOING IT.

Here’s her story and tips for taking your dreams from "what if" to "I did it!" for yourself.

Believe

The first step to achieving anything is believing that it is possible. You have to be able to envision what you want and trust that you can make it happen. This process can be slow and steady, I would achieve little wins in order to prove to myself that it is true. This way, you’ll be motivated by your own success rather than scared of failure.

Conceive

The first step in turning your dreams into reality is setting goals. You can use easy to follow techniques like SMART goals (Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound) You'll be able to track your progress  and set yourself up for success.

Back in July of 2022, my partner and I planned a lovely Saturday morning at the office to map out what we wanted our 2023 to look like.

  • We had just gotten engaged
  • We wanted to own property at some point
  • We wanted to have travel in our lives as much as we could

The odds were truly stacked against us

  • House prices were skyrocketing
  • Weddings were backed up due to COVID
  • We were still living in uncertainty

But we were confident that we could make it happen and we knew that if we wanted to achieve it in a short amount of time we were going to have to start taking action now.

Break It Down

Once you have your goal in mind, it can be overwhelming if you try to tackle it all at once. Instead of trying to conquer Everest right away, break down your goal into smaller chunks that are easier to manage. This will make the process less intimidating because each step will seem achievable. Plus, when you accomplish each mini-goal along the way, you'll get a boost of motivation that will help propel you forward!

Now that we had our big goals, we broke them down into what we needed to focus on to get there, our number one priority was taking control of our finances.

Talking about finances with your partner can be scary at first, however creating a life where you’re financially on the same page can make a huge difference. It lowers the feeling of resentment and also lowers the risk of creating an unsustainable lifestyle, so we started planning monthly finance meetings to ensure we were on the right track.

During our big planning session, we wrote down all our assets, all our expenses (including putting aside money for a place and the wedding) and figured out what our budget would be in Europe for 3 months

Then we broke down what kind of lifestyle we wanted to live, we didn’t want to compromise on earning a living, so we had to figure out a way to work and travel at the same time. After negotiations with work, my partner was able to secure three months working Eastern Standard Time hours from wherever we were. For my own business, I ensured that each client was comfortable with the idea and scheduled any in-person meetings and video shoots ahead of time.

Achieve

It's important to remember that action doesn't always mean big leaps; even small steps can add up over time. Start with one tiny action each day—even something as simple as writing down one thing you want to accomplish—and watch as those small steps start adding up!

One week we would commit to researching the best spots for our needs, another week we would start cleaning up our space for our eventual move. Little actions to move towards our bigger goals.

Actually talking about my goals made it feel more real and I was less likely to back out from it. Every week in the Propeller Experience community I was able to chat through my roadblocks like my money mindset or my work schedule until I was finally able to take the leap of faith and book that plane ticket!

I'm finally living my dream life and it's all thanks to Propeller! I'm now able to travel freely, set up remote work with ease and surround myself with this uplifting community no matter where my journey takes me.
